Seattle to Florida, and back again.

Published November 13, 2012 by Vegan Derby Cat Party

I thought I should give you a wee little update. I know I haven’t been posting much since I got to Seattle, and really that’s for 2 reasons.

1. I’ve had a nasty cold! After having years of good health, and vegan super powers to knock any cold out of my body in a matter of hours (except for when they made me get the flu shot last year and I was like death for 3 days), I succumbed to a terrible sickness the 1st week I got here. The fact that I haven’t been taking vitamins for weeks now, coupled with the move and climate change, left me vulnerable. So there have been many days that I just stayed in bed and drank tea all day.

2. I like writing blog posts on my lap top. Oh, and my lap top battery died the 2nd day I was here. So, while the battery/charger issue has now been addressed, I haven’t had wifi, so I’ve been internetting via phone & ipad. I just find it so clumsy to write a great review, with all the proper hyperlinks and such, without the aid of a real keyboard and mouse. In fact, I’m only writing you all this because I (thankfully) have a slideout keyboard on my phone! 🙂 So the posts should be coming fairly soon.

I’m flying back to Florida tonight, and arriving very early tomorrow morning, so I will be able to knock out a few while I’m staying at my parents’. Saturday, I’m picking up Thomas from the airport! I haven’t seen him since I left the 30th, so it’s kind of a big deal for me. He’s in Vegas right now, working on the sets for the Latin Grammys. (Thursday night!) Sunday, we leave on our big road trip across the country with our stuff, that ends up right back at the very place I am now. I can only hope that I can finally kick this bug out soon! Being sick for 2 weeks is just craziness!

Also, I included a pic of a pretty tree that I thought was unique, from one of my walks downtown. And of course, you recognize my wrinkly little kitten, Ganon, down here looking so grown up and handsome! He’s going to be staying with our friend until we get back, and we will miss him. (Of course, he’ll be having a ball, stalking her three adult cats!)

Stay tuned! We will be hitting New Orleans, Austin, Tuscon, Cabazon, San Diego, Santa Monica, LA, Bakersfield (for lunch with Jenna!), and San Francisco before we get back to Seattle. So let me know if you have any recommendations for those cities!

Mmm! Just looking over some of the dishes I made last year for Thanksgiving is making me hungry! This year we’ll be spending our holiday eating a gluten free, vegan meal in LA with our newly transplanted ex Fort Lauderdale neighbors, as well as a couple of South Floridians that have been there a bit longer. That’s 1 omni, 1 gluten sensitive omni, 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan, and 1 gluten sensitive, classically trained, vegan chef! Should be super fun & extremely delicious! As far as the progress of our packing is concerned, all we have left to do now is to donate one last pile & turn in the keys to our current place. Then I leave Tuesday morning! Very surreal still!

I just thought I’d post links to everything that I’m making for easy reference here! ; ) This isn’t a full menu, but rather my contributions to our collective family meal. My parents are making their items vegan too this year, which is pretty exciting. They’re making stuffing, sweet potatoes, smashed red potatoes, cranberry orange bread and banana breads.
