Just a quick update to show off our yummy pizza from last night. This is a large vegan Margherita with Daiya cheese and tempeh. It’s got an olive oil & garlic base, red sauce, sliced tomatoes and basil. Soooo good!
We washed it down with some $3 Sam Adams pints and watched the olympics and the Red Sox beat the Yanks.
Keep an eye out for plenty of posts coming up this week. I just did a little detox cleanse, and I’ll be writing about that as well as trying to clear myself some counter space in my cramped kitchen so I can start preparing some high raw meals again. Hope you’re enjoying your weekend! : )
Just showing off some of the awesome pizza we ate last night. I wasn’t in the mood to cook and decided we should go to MM, even though we have no business going out to eat right now. We’re broke and trying to move out of state. Oh well. It was SO GOOD.
Me: Okay, we’ll split a large pizza. No beer. No appetizers. Just pizza. We can drink good beer at home for free! : )
This pizza was a tomato sauce base w/ Daiya cheese, caramelized onions, sun dried tomatoes & jerk tofu. Mmm! Too bad there aren’t any Mellow Mushrooms in Seattle! In the meantime, we have to take advantage of the deliciousness.
(My ramble about getting some dinner into us last night!)
I was running some errands last night, and all of them were fairly close to Season’s 52 in Boca, so I decided to head there. Since we didn’t have a reservation, and there wasn’t any seating in the bar area, we took a table outside, even though it looked overcast.
I’ve eaten there before, and I’m a fan of their market vegetable plate. While I like that they have a separate vegan menu, pictured below, my one complaint is that I think they should make at least 1 of their many flatbreads vegan! Please?! You can read my review a previous experience here.
Well, before we could even order any food, it began to rain. It was okay though, because the smoke from the torches on the patio was overwhelming. So we headed over to Mellow Mushroom.
The only problem with Mellow Mushroom is parking. I eventually found a space right when I was about to give up. There was a wait, but we easily got a couple of seats at the bar and got the other thing we came here for… beer! : ) Fin du monde and Panic Attack. I had a custom pizza, which was just delicious! This place rocks!
Made Vegan: red base, Daiya cheese, fresh basil, yellow peppers and tempeh. Small about $14
Just a few quick pics from dinner the other night at mellow mushroom! Since Mellow Mushroom is close by, has Daiya cheese, and is happy to veganize items on their menu, (and don’t stare at you like you’re an alien if you make such a request!) it will definitely be a place I’m happy to frequent often. The cool rock and roll ambiance, great service and 50 draft and 50 bottled beer selections don’t hurt either. ; ) Speaking of beer, have you tried Holy Mackerel’s 10% Panic Attack?! It’s absolutely great. If there’s one near you, you must try them out!
The restaurant’s covered in paintings of great album covers.
Bruschetta, made vegan (no feta!) $6.99 AMAZING!
Made vegan: tomato sauce base, Daiya cheese, yellow peppers, onions and jerk tofu. Large $23.99(?) DELICIOUS!
Guess what?! The Delray Beach Mellow Mushroom now has Daiya cheese! In fact, the website says they now have it at all of their locations.
Now I’m not sure how long they’ve had it, but I finally remembered that I should call and find out. The last time I went there they had just started with the non-vegan gluten free crust, but they hadn’t gotten Daiya yet. I made sure to befriend them on facebook and let them know that I was interested though! : )
Regardless, I headed up last night on my way to go see Timb and ZOMBIES! ORGANIZE!! over at Propaganda.
Hummus and Veggies $6.99
Mega Veggie pizza (sans mushrooms & banana peppers, it comes with a LOT of toppings) 16″ $25.49
veganized with Daiya cheese and without the butter cheese topping on the crust.
The hummus was fine. Nothing crazy here. Though it did seem like it was maybe lower in fat because it was on the drier side versus a really creamy dip, so if that’s true, I’m happy ; ) but that’s just a guess.
The pizza was SUPER delicious. I love their crust. It’s very multigrainy sweet tasting. I believe it’s also what they make their pretzels out of. (Which are vegan if you order them plain.) They have tempeh as a topping, and a tempeh sandwich that you can veganize. The also have several kinds of tofu like jerk and terriyaki.
Not only was the pizza awesome, but Mondays they have specials on some of their 100 beer selections! : )
have you been to mellow mushroom? they seem to be a large chain these days, so you probably have. a few of my friends were heading out for dinner last night, and we met up at the delray beach location to have some beers & food. if you are into beer, mellow mushroom has a colossal collection of 100 beers; 50 drafts, and 50 bottles! they also have vegan options like tempeh and tofu sandwiches, and you can get them as toppings for pizza too. some stores even have vegan cheese, and have started carrying the daiya brand. (unfortunately the delray beach location does not have vegan cheese. i’m going to send them a note on their facebook page!) if you order the pretzels plain, they come with mustard & marinara dipping sauce, also vegan, and yummy.
i ordered a bbq sauce base with avocado, tempeh, and onion. they forgot the avocado, but i so did i until the check came. they were a little over zealous with the sauce, and apparently also on the bbq based pie that our friends ordered. besides that, it was delicious, and i’d definitely return again to try some different combinations. the dough is super tasty. they have also started carrying a gluten-free crust, but it has egg. another couple ordered it, and hated it. so much so that they didn’t even take it home, and they hate wasting food! so stick to the original, vegan crust if you go. : )
