i have tried to keep this blog limited to vegan food. but i feel the need to tell you what’s been going on with me lately, and i’m sure some of you will be able to relate. so since halloween i’ve been being tempted by all kinds of non-vegan food… breads, reese’s pieces, pasta, cream sauce. but i hadn’t cheated. but my need for pasta with vodka sauce got a lot stronger, and i ended up eating rigatoni a la vodka, with a chocolate molten cake and ice cream to boot.
this led to me going off the vegan for a couple of weeks. mostly i ate vegetarian, but i did try some a bite of different meats here and there, and i just found i didn’t find it as enjoyable as i thought i would. the cream sauce, yes, cheese and cream sauce were still good. but after about a week and a half, i started to feel different. junky. dirty. my body wasn’t running as clean as it had been, and i didn’t like it.
it’s interesting, because transitioning INto a vegan diet i didn’t really notice as much as halting it.
so i’ve decided to get back on. even if it still drives everyone crazy. if i absolutely MUST have vodka sauce one day, i’ll have it. no big deal, and get back on. but mostly i really prefer how i feel when i’m eating completely vegan.
