Recently I was starving, and trying to brainstorm of places to grab a quick lunch in less familiar territory, when I remembered… Starbucks! Since there’s a Starbucks just about everywhere, I was parking my car at one 5 minutes later. I was never one to frequent this overpriced hot spot (unless I knew someone that worked there) but had especially forgotten about it since I stopped drinking coffee almost 2 years ago. Then I remembered the fairly recent twitter flutter the vegan box lunch caused.
Deluxe Fruit Blend, ~$3 - All fruit and vegetables have a season – a time when they are abundant and taste best. This fruit cup, a delicious combo of seasonal fruit will have you looking forward to each new day on the calendar.
I ate the fruit cup first because I was driving to my destination and I couldn’t wait until I got there to eat something! Very convenient for on the go. It even fits in the car cup holder! The green apples were way too sour, but I don’t think that’s really Starbucks fault. ; )
Sesame Noodles Bistro Box ~$7 - Sesame noodle salad tossed with broccoli florets, carrots, red peppers, sugar snap peas and a creamy peanut dressing is served with a cucumber carrot salad, crunchy sesame peanuts and baked tofu with lightly spiced lime glaze. For dessert, a premium Starbucks chocolate.
This was good. The tofu was nicely seasoned, but overall it lacked the vibrant flavor that would make it great. The crunchy sesame peanuts were delicious, and the chocolate was nice little treat. Still, a great option to have readily available at its numerous locations. It didn’t keep me very full for long, but did the job.
I know they offer an array of vegan baked goods from the quick search I did in the parking lot before going inside, but I was happy with my fruit cup. It would be really nice if they clearly marked their vegan items, though!
In other news, here is a picture of Tashi. She decided to spend last night outdoors, apparently. I probably would have realized she was missing sooner, if I wasn’t laid up in bed for the last 2 days being super sick. Thomas realized she was missing today, and then we discovered a hole in the screen that looked pushed out. We live on the third floor, and I can’t imagine that she’d really jump that far. We checked all the usual places, but she was nowhere to be found. I started calling her name and heard a faint meow begin to escalate from the back stairwell. There she was hiding behind a grill on the second floor landing. The cleaning lady was here yesterday, and I’m thinking that’s how she got out, but Thomas thinks she jumped. If she jumped the bushes below must’ve cushioned her fall, because she’s absolutely perfect except for her fur was a little dirty, and I gave her a much appreciated grooming with the flea comb.
